Audio questions

I finished my audio questions and illustrations/diagrams today.

1. What range of frequencies are detectable to the human ear?

20Hz(lowest)-20kHz(highest)

2. Define Audio

Audio is the range of frequencies detectable by the human ear.

3. Audio production involves what four elements of audio?

Audio is the production, recording, manipulation and reproduction of sound waves.

4. List 10 careers in audio and list a local company for six of the career fields

Studio Sound engineer, Live sound engineer, Musician, Music producer, DJ, Radio technician, Film/Television Sound Recording, Field Sound Engineer, Audio Editor, Post-Production Audio Creator

5. List three careers that need to have an understanding of audio production concepts

Video Camera operators, Film, and Video

6. A person rings a bell and another person hears the sound. Draw a diagram (in your composition book) of how this sound is created, transmitted, and received by a human

7. What is a waveform

The form of a wave on a graph.

8. Is sound two dimensional or three dimensional?

Three dimensional.

9. How do variations in sound pressure correlate to a waveform diagram?

High values represent areas of increased pressure, when the wave hits a low point the molecules are spread more thinly.

10. Illustrate (in your composition book) the difference between wavelength, amplitude, and frequency.

11. Diagram (in your composition book) in phase, 180deg out of phase, and different wave and how they interact.

12. Define transducer

A device which converts energy from one form into another (ex: Microphones & Speakers).

13. Define amplifier

A devices which takes a signal and increases its power.

14. Define signal processor

Devices and software which allow the manipulation of the signal in various ways.

15. Diagram (in your composition book) the 3 part model as described in the article.

Textures!!!

Finally got around to texturing our castles today, since Fitzer is gone for the rest of the week. I don't think I did that badly.

What was completed: Textured the entire castle. Wasn't that hard and I didn't use bold colors that took away from geometry. I especially like the water and grass textures.

Last Friday Work

What have you learned about 3D Modeling?
I have learned how to render an object with a white background and color palette, and that the copy shortcut is your friend. I also got a bit more practice putting pictures on my blog, using basic shapes (box tool, cone tool, etc.), tranferring my ideas from my concept sketch to the actual design.
What has been your biggest challenge in 3D?
Overcoming the urge to be a perfectionist and memorizing the keyboard shortcuts.
What would you do differently if you were to do your castle model over again?
I would add more detail than I did this time, I also would have researched a bit more.
Was your research sketch helpful?
For the most part yes, but I changed a lot more than I would have liked from the sketch to the 3D design. Most of the changes were for the better and actually looked better in the long run, but a few of them I would've liked to keep in the 3D model.

Rendering

The two pics I chose to render.
From this assignment,I learned how to better maneuver in 3Ds Max and manipulate objects. However, I still have a lot more to learn.
