6. Patent –Used for inventions, authorized by the government, lasts for 20 years, unlike copyright.

7. Trademark-Designated symbol used to distinguish a manufacturer’s goods. Punishable by law. No time limit.

8. Trade Secret-Secret process used to create a good, or service. Not punishable by law.
